Koshi chimes are exquisite, handcrafted musical instruments from the French Pyrenees that produce a clear, crystalline sound rich in harmonic overtones.Design and ConstructionCylinder Body: Made from treated bamboo veneer treated with natural oil, measuring 6.3 cm in diameter and 16.5 cm in height.Internal Structure: Eight steel chime-rods of different lengths are welded with silver into a metal plate fixed at the base.Mechanism: A central cord with a glass-bead or pearl striker hangs inside, acting like a pendulum to gently hit the rods when moved by hand or wind.Circular Tuning: The overlapping notes and overtones create a continuous, rolling melody with no rigid beginning or end.
